Professional Registration & Expert Witness Code of Conduct
At Prudence OT we follow a strict code of conduct. Each one of our occupational therapists requires registration to Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). These professionals are bound through their registration to an APHRA developed code of conduct.
“…The ethos of the occupational therapy profession and its practice requires its members to discharge their duties and responsibilities, at all times, in a manner which professionally, ethically, and morally compromises no individual with whom they have professional contact, irrespective of that person’s position, situation or condition in society…”
Rehabilitation Counsellors we use are members of the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors and/or the Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australia. Both organisations adopt professional code of ethics.
Our team of experts are bound to comply with the District and Supreme Court Expert Witness Code of Conduct [Schedule 7 to the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 2005] and where relevant the [Practice Note SC GEN 11] on Joint Conferences of Expert Witness and act within the said rules for expert witnesses.
Without being limited to, this may include that the;
- expert has completed all enquiries considered appropriate in formulating assessment conclusions;
- opinions stated in reports are genuinely held;
- expert’s report contains reference to all matters regarded as significant to the results; and
- expert understands their duty as an expert witness is to assist the court and have complied with this duty.
